Our last day at Sun Peaks and our last day of skiing for the trip. Missing skiing already. That's the heart talking not the body!
The kids and parents all skied together today for the last day. As I mentioned in the last post the kids have come along a long way with the more consecutive days skiing they have had. It has been such a great experience for all of us. The snow is so different here to Australia and you have to ski it differently. We now have all 3 kids skiing blue runs (for those not in the know that is the intermediate level of skiing). This means we can all ski together and have some fun. As a result we got to take a family photo under the "Out of the Woods" sign.
Today Blayne challenged Phil and Ady a race down the mountain that had to include 6 jumps. Not to be left out Laura wanted to join in and Chris offered to race her since Laura has only just started skiing blue runs and we thought it best she did not try to keep up. Ady and Blayne had the tactic of doing their jumps first and Phil took off trying to race first and jump later. After about 1/3 of the slope Phil paused to make sure everyone was coming, but could not find Ady or Blayne. All of a sudden there is a pink flash weaving through the trees! Hang on that's Laura! Apparently racing Chris wasn't enough of a race and she was taking on all of us and currently winning! So much for Little Miss Cautious who does not like to go too fast! In the end Blayne piped Phil by half a ski length. Good work young fella. I will have to practise so I can get you next time.
Dinner tonight was at Bella Italia in Sun Peaks. Whilst there we ran into another Australian family. Their daughter had been in lessons with Laura and Adele at the previous ski resort (Big White) we were at the week before and they recognised each other at this one. Small world! We had dinner with them and took some photos of the kids on the Sun Peaks chair in the village.
On the way back we came across an Ice Sculptor who had sculptured a small child skiing. Great job and took over an hour to complete.
