Today we went to Gas Town in the city of Vancouver. We parked and got lucky with our location for the first stop of the Double Decker Red Bus tour. We waited at the steam clock. It is a huge clock that is powered by steam and weights to keep time. The kids both big and small loved this….especially the Westminster chimes and the whistle on the quarter hour. There was also a homeless man, which was interesting conversation to have with the kids- why we have jobs.
The weather was balmy according to the locals at a lovely 8 degrees! We got to see many squirrels in Stanley from the bus and also from our back porch. They were running along the fence – very exciting.
On our way home (after the extensive local tour) the boys decided to drive home without the GPS. Not too many wrong turns….they are even good at the whole driving thing on the other side of the road. At $10/day extra per driver we decided to only have 2 nominated drivers on the hire car. Chris and I decided to be gracious and let the boys drive…it had nothing to do about us being nervous about driving on the wrong side of the car, on the wrong side of the car… nothing at all.
