At the suggestion of Laura we went to the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Gardens in Vancouver. Very lovely place right in the middle of the Chinatown district. It has beautiful gardens and a small museum discussing the history of Chinese immigrants in the Vancouver area. Dr Sun Yat-Sen was responsible for establishing the gardens and donating it back as public space. The garden exists based on public donations. It was a very peaceful place in the middle of a busy city.
The museum had a section set up for kids to try calligraphy using water based paint and absorbent paper. We all had a go and discovered kids are better at it than the parents!
After the Chinese Gardens we came to a small toy store that had a large scalextrics set that filled half the shop. The photo attached shows the kids had great fun playing on it. Especially note the smile on the BIG kids face!
